We have set up this blog as a way to share with the community what we are up to and so members can see what needs to be done in the garden week to week.

How to use this blog:
We will post the to-do's and you simply write in the comments what you will be taking care of so we know it's getting done.

4-H in the Garden!

This past Thursday our city hosted its first ever 4-H meeting at the B.H. Public Library. We picked a name: Beverly Hills 4-H Club (Heart Helpers), and agreed to meet up in the Demonstration Garden on Sunday. The kids harvested corn and prepared the stalks to be composted. They also picked and hung herbs for making peppermint/verbena tea. We had a great time. Master Gardener George Pessin was also on hand preparing some of the beds for the Victory Garden: Grow L.A. class he will be teaching starting this coming Sunday, Sept. 14th, noon in the garden (see last time's post for sign up details if you are interested in taking this great class).

Please contact me if you are interested in 4-H: a wonderful hands-on learning experience for girls and boys ages 5-19. Barbara Linder <blinder01@roadrunner.com>
